Diasporan Communities of the Asia/Pacific This
is an interdisciplinary examination of the migration and settlement of people
from countries within the Asia Pacific region to America. This course draws upon
literature, film, anthropology, history, ethnography, and cultural studies to
deepen understandings of the ways in which migration, race, and racial discrimination
continues to shape social thought and institutions in the United States. Beyond
the theme of racism and resistance, the course focuses on migration and labor,
identity and community within migrant populations, migration, and globalization.
